RSG Moves To Reduce Infant Mortality Rate
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has expressed government’s desire to reduce infant and maternal mortality in the state.
Banigo stated this when the Local Organizing Committee of the Pediatric Association of Nigeria, led by its Chairman, Professor Edward Alikor, paid her a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt.
The deputy governor said the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration was committed to improving the healthcare delivery services especially children and mothers who are the most vulnerable groups in the society.
“We are totally committed to seeing that the present rate of infant and maternal mortality are reduced drastically in Rivers State,” she said.
Banigo, who assured that the Wike-led government has fashioned out programmes and policies to fulfill its electioneering promises to the people on healthcare, commended the Pediatric Association of Nigeria for their efforts in caring for the health of children, and encouraged them to do more.
Earlier, Chairman, Local Organizing Committee of the National Conference of the Pediatric Association of Nigeria, Professor Edward Alikor, had said the essence of the visit was to intimate and seek support of government on its forth-coming national conference in January, 2015.
Alikor also commended the state government on its impressive achievements so far.
