Wike Dissolves LG Caretaker Committees …Swears In Six New Perm Secs, Today

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has dissolved the 22 local government caretaker committees in the state.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, yesterday, indicated that the dissolution is with immediate effect.
The statement further directed the 22 caretaker committee members to handover the council properties in their possession to the various Heads of Local Government Administrations.
It noted that the action was necessitated by the fact that the statutory three months tenure for caretaker committees expired, yesterday, and thanked them for their sacrifices and service to the state at this time.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, will today swear-in six new permanent secretaries appointed by the state government, yesterday.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, yesterday, indicated that the swearing ceremony, will hold at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Port-Harcourt by 10am.
The statement advised the newly appointed permanent secretaries and their guests to be seated by 9am, stressing that each appointee is entitled to just one guest.
It would be recalled that the statement had conveyed the approval of the governor for the appointment of Dr Onyenachi Nwankwo from Etche; Ernest Chapp-Jumbo from Bonny; Samuel Ibemeru from Obio/Akpo; Michael Ejiowhor from Emohua; Lekia Pukpor from Khana; and Dumo Jack from Akuku-Toru local government areas as permanent secretaries.
The statement stated that their appointment was with immediate effect.
