RSSDA Assures 19 Overseas Scholars
Rivers State Government has dispelled fears of parents and guardians of about 19 students studying in United Kingdom who are billed to return to Nigeria yesterday over non-payment of their fees.
In a statement by the Media and Communications Manager of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), Kingsley Uranta yesterday, the affected students will return back to their various schools next year.
He explained that parents and guardians of the affected students have nothing to fear over the continuation of studies by their wards as they were sent back home briefly due to delay in the payment of their fees and failure to meet registration deadline for the 2015/2015 academic year in universities of Huddersfield, Brighton and Nottingham Trent where they are studying overseas.
According to him, “we have confirmed from the universities that the students have the opportunity to return to school next year.”
Uranta explained that the students were sent back home to avoid infringing immigration laws disclosing that funds released by Governor Wike early this month to pay for their fees and upkeep could not reach the authorities early.
