FRSC To Recruit 104 Special Marshals
The Edo State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has said that the command would only recruit persons of credible character as prospective special marshals.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Oluwasusi Familoni, said this at the commencement of a three-day recruitment of 104 special marshals in Benin City, capital of Edo.
He said that similar exercises would hold respectively at Ekpoma and Auchi in Edo Central and Edo North Senatorial Districts in the week.
Familoni, addressing the prospective candidates, said that the exercise was a fill-up the gap for the available spaces approved for the state.
The commander was assisted by the State Special Marshal Coordinator, Mr Friday Ekhator to screen the intending special marshals.
Also, officials from the state’s motor licensing office were said to be around to confirm the genuineness of the prospective special marshals’ driver’s licenses.
Familoni announced that 104 special marshals would be selected from the three senatorial districts of the state to make up the required 200 needed to complete 700 special marshals.
The commander said that for one to be eligible as a special marshal, such an applicant must be 28 years and above and exhibited passion and interest to serve.
Familoni added that the prospective candidate must be a car owner and with reasonable means of livelihood.
He said that any intending special marshal must also possess a valid driver’s licence and exhibit a working knowledge of the English language.
Familoni said these requirements were a necessary pre-requisite for the selection of would-be special marshals.
“Special marshals have equal rights as regular marshals to sanction, arrest and prosecute traffic offenders,’’ he said.
