The Rivers State Government says the present’ administration should not be blamed for the travails of the former Governor of the State, Rt.Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Opunabo Inko-Tariah,who stated this while reacting to a statement by the All Progressives Congress(APC) insisted that the former Governor does not deserve ministerial appointment  having allegedly mismanaged Rivers State funds and was unable to pay workers’ salaries as and when due.
Inko-Tariah urged the former Governor to do the needful by first addressing the issues before accepting the ministerial nomination
The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had stated in a statement that Amaechi will be an asset as a minister to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The statement signed by the state Chairman, Chief Davies Ikanya, described Amaechi as the best choice for ministerial appointment from the state.
It noted that President Buhari took the right decision by nominating the former Rivers State  governor for consideration by the Senate.
According to the statement, “Going by his antecedents, Rt. Hon. Amaechi will be an asset to the Buhari’s administration and a strong voice for Rivers State as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The party also stated that its members were eagerly looking forward to the ministerial confirmation of Amaechi by the senators
