Three Docked For Selling Faulty X-Ray Machine

A Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court, Rivers State, presided over by S.D Andrew Jaja has granted bail to three persons allegedly accused of selling a faulty x-Ray machine.
The accused persons, Victoria Egbuziem, Edward Mbachu and Bright Uhegwu were arraigned on a two court charge bordering frandulence and cheating before chief magistrate S.D. Andrew Jaja.
The prosecuting police officer told the court that the accused persons and others now at large within the jurisdiction of the court in a fraudulent manner, tricked one Dr Tamuno Otuka, a medical practioner, to buy a faulty Mighty Atom X-ray machine.
The police prosecuting officer also told the court that the cost of the machine valued at N650,000, adding that the accused persons were aware that the machine was bad and faulty.
He averred that the offence committed by the accused persons was punishable under various criminal codes of the Federation as it was applicable in the state.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them when the matter was called up and the two court charge was read to them.
Counsel to the accused, Barr C.C. Okpara applied for their bail application on a liberal terms and urged the court to exercise its discretion to grant his clients bail as the offences allegedly committed are bailable.
Ruling on the matter the presiding chief magistrate, S.D. Andrew Jaja, granted the accused persons bail to the tune of N500,000 in like sum with two sureties each of which, one must produce evidence of tax clearance and other, valid vehicle particulars and later adjourned the case to September 23, 2015 for hearing.
