S’Eagles: Mikel, Enyeama, Others Still In My Plans -Oliseh
Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh, has said that most senior players of the national team, such as Skipper Vincent Enyeama, Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and others are still in his plans as he strives to tinker the Eagles into an efficient, match winning side.
According to him, no player has been shut out of the national team, however, he wants them, especially the foreign based players to be having game time at their respective club sides.
Oliseh made this known yesterday moments after the Super Eagles defeated the Mena of Niger Republic 2-0 in an international friendly game at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The Coach who expressed satisfaction with the performance of his team said that the Eagles are still a work-in-progress as they work hard to get to the level he wants them to be, where they would begin to excite Nigerians once more.
He called for patience and time from Nigerians because he believes that the country is no longer at the top level it used to be in football and cannot be returned there overnight.
Thus, Oliseh urged some restraint in criticisms of the players and team, saying that they have been working to evolve a playing pattern and for the team to be on the same page regarding what is expected of everybody in a game.
In the friendly game yesterday, the Super Eagles scored once in either side of the two halves to win, via Skipper Ahmed Musa from the spot in the first half and substitute Simon Moses in the second.
The match was a game of few chances as both sides struggled to create clear- cut chances, while the Nigeriens found it difficult testing Super Eagles keeper. The Eagles proved that they are truly a work in progress with their inefficiency and lack of bite in the final three minutes.
