Rivers Police Drag 145 Suspects To Court

lice Command says it has charged 145 suspects to court for various criminal offences within two months.
The out-going state Commissioner of Police, CP Chris Ezike stated this during his valedictory press briefing held at the command headquarters along Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, Monday.
The outgoing police commissioner averred that the brief was to mark the end of the 2 months emergency on violent crimes in the state as well as his official duty in the state.
CP Ezike disclosed that the 145 suspects charged to court were among the 214 suspects arrested by officers of the command within the months of July and August respectively.
According to him, the two months emergency period declared by the command which formally ended on August 31st, 2015 was positive and re-assuring, adding that the police would continue to live up to their responsibility to ensure the safety of life and properties.
He told journalists that on 29th of August, 2015 at about 1130hrs police tactical teams responded to a distress call at Iriebe which turned out to be a scene of ongoing robbery attack and that police operatives engaged the bandits forcing them to flee.
The former police state boss further told journalists that a Toyota Camry saloon car, grey in colour with Reg No. Lagos EKY 699CZ, one military AK49 rifle with double magazine containing 34 rounds of live ammunition, and another AK 47 rifle with double magazine containing 41 rounds of live ammunition were recovered as well as the arrest of one suspect, a 27-year-old Godwin Williams.
