Perm Sec Tasks Youth On Govt’s Programmes

The Permanent Secretary
in the Rivers State Ministry of Information/Communications, Mr. Sam Woka, says the present administration in the state has created opportunities for Rivers youth to harness their potentials.
Mr. Woka, who stated this during a courtesy call by the League of Character Club of Nigeria in his office reeled out some of the programmes of the government in the last three months such as the on-going construction of several roads in the state that would provide jobs for the youths, completion of Irebe Housing Estate and payment of all outstanding allowances owed Dolphins, Sharks and Rivers Angels Football clubs.
The permanent secretary said that government had settled all issues concerning the overseas scholarship programme, hosting of the Under 23 National Team as well as the payment of salary arrears of civil servants and pensioners.
He commended the League of Character Club of Nigeria for doing a good work, especially in the area of character moulding and youth mobilization and urged the club to be ready to participate in cheering the Super Eagles when they storm Port Harcourt this month.
Earlier, the President League of Character Club of Nigeria, Chief Christian Koboriko informed the Permanent Secretary of the on-going Chief Harold Dappa Biriye Soccer Cup competition, which started in 1994.
He said that the competition had produced a lot of football stars since its inception and solicited for the support of the state government to enable the club execute some of its programmes.
