Kidnap: Dornu Kogbara’s Whereabouts Still Unknown … Five Days After
Barely five days after her abduction by unknown gunmen, the whereabouts of Vanguard columnist, Dornu Kogbara, have remained unknown.
Kogbara was kidnapped at Nkpogu, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State early Sunday while driving out of her residence.
The incident, which happened in the morning, caused confusion within the area as neighbours converged to inquire what happened to the essayist.
Sources said yesterday that no contact had been established between the family of the victim and her abductors, even as anxiety continued to mount over her safety.
It was gathered that the family of the essayist had begun to seek divine intervention over the development with the hope that she (Kogbara) would be released without further delay.
When contacted, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Muhammad, explained that though, investigation was still on-going, he would not speak on such a sensitive matter in order to guarantee the safety of the victim.
Muhammad said, “She (Kogbara) has not been released, but we have intensified investigation towards ensuring that she regains her freedom.
“Again, for her own safety, we do not want to say anything that could negatively affect her safety wherever she is. All I can say now is that we are doing our possible best to ensure that she is rescued, unhurt.”
The state police spokesman assured that no stone would be left unturned in the search for the whereabouts of the kidnapped Vanguard columnist and her eventual release.
