The Federal Road
Safety Commission (FRSC), has reiterated its zero tolerance of corruption among its staff members.
The Zonal Commander of its Benin zone, Mr Shehu Zaki, issued the warning while on a working visit to the Anambra sector in Awka.
Saki said discipline remained the bedrock of the principles upon which the FRSC was established some 28 years ago.
He said that many members of staff had been relieved of their jobs on account of corruption but expressed surprise that some personnel were not discouraged from the unprofessional conduct.
The zonal commander, who resumed duty in the zone on July 14, however, commended the officers in the zone for being on top of their game.
He said he had come with the mindset of achieving the goal of the commission which is minimum accident and maximum sanity on the Nigerian roads.
Zaki called on construction companies to erect adequate signs to enable motorists to drive more defensively on approaching them.
He urged them to be more alive to their corporate social responsibility by partnering with the FRSC in the business of making the highways safe while and after working.
Responding, the Sector Commander for Anambra, Mr Sunday Ajayi, lauded the officers for their high sense of responsibility.
Ajayi assured the zonal commander of the cooperation of the Anambra sector toward the success of the zone.
