Flooding: Expert Urges Nigerians To Plant More Trees

Udoko, has called on Nigerians to imbibe the culture of planting trees in order to check flooding in the country.
Udoko made the call yesterday in an interview with newsmen in Asaba.
He said that regular planting of trees to replace the old ones would assist in preserving the environment.
Udoko also called on landlords to plant flowers around their buildings, saying this would reduce the impact of climate change on the environment.
“ The air is saturated as a result of fewer trees and flowers in the environment.
“ When there are more trees and flowers, it would reduce the impact of flooding in the country,’’ he said.
Udoko, who is also the founder of Climate Change Initiative Network, an NGO, stated that the flash flood being experienced in some areas has become a source of concern to farmers.
He said too much rainfall would have an adverse effect on crops like tubers.
