Criminality: Siat Seeks Govt’s Intervention

The management of Siat
Nigerian Limited (formerly Risonpalm) has called on the Rivers State Government under Governor Nyesom Wike to help them curb the activities of criminals and trespassers at the Ubima and Elele Palm Oil plantation.
The company made the plea recently in an interview with newsmen during the visit of the Rivers State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs Oninim Jack to the company.
Chief operating officer of the company, Mr Henk Zwinderman, stressed the need for the government to assist the company in the fencing of its oil palm plantations.
He noted that the activities of some criminals who are daily stealing palm fruits are affecting the operation of the company.
Stating that the company began operations four years ago, the  Siat boss said the company has provided social amenities to the host communities.
He stressed that schools have been rehabilitated while electricity have been provided to Egbu and Ihie communities all in Etche local government area.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Agric boss has pledged to encourage private investors in the agric sector.
The commissioner said the government would support private investors in every sector and unit of agricultural production from zero to upper level.
She commended the management of Siat for the good work it was doing and urged for sustenance of the tempo.
