Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has expressed happiness over the progress of work done so far on key construction projects in Port Harcourt.
Governor Wike expressed his joy over the weekend during an unscheduled visit to existing project sites in the Port Harcourt City and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas.
Governor Wike lauded Julius Berger for their rapid progress on the Evo Trans Woji Road junction.
Governor Wike explained thus: “one is satisfied with what we have seen. It is obvious that construction is going on well, particularly the areas that Julius Berger has been able to handle. Like you know, we said Julius Berger will take part of Old GRA, Woji Road, Ogbunabali Road and parts of Creek Road. You can see the quality of work they are doing”.
Other projects inspected by the governor, includes: Ahoada Street by Creek Road, UTC Junction by Forces Avenue in old GRA and the Faculty of Law Building at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology.
The state chief executive also inspected Obi-Wali Road, Elioparanwo Road and Akpajo/Woji bridge in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The Governor remarked that his administration was getting value for the money it paid the construction companies.
Meanwhile, the Vicar of St Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Venerable Abbey Kalio, has enjoined the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the April general elections, Dr Dakuku Peterside, to support Wike in transforming the state.
Kalio told Dakuku, “do not worry, the elections have come and gone, and please, don’t listen to any other voice than the voice of God”, urging all to join hands with Wike to build Rivers State.
Kalio emphasised that the call has become imperative considering the challenges ahead, stressing that the time has come to move the state forward, irrespective of political affiliations.
The vicar, who praised Wike for his achievements so far, counselled him to carry everybody along in the scheme of things.
“Be magnanimous in victory, and victory should not give you pride. As you have started on a good note, also end on a good note”, Kalio advised
The Anglican priest warned Wike to avoid the pitfalls of many politicians by avoiding sycophants.
He advised him to always do the wishes of the people, and called on the populace to help the government to succeed.
On the part of the church, Kalio assured the governor that the church will always pray for him and his government to succeed.
Kalio had earlier advised the newly married couple to make God their pillar, stressing that for the marriage to succeed, the wife must be submissive while the husband must shower her with love.
