Union Lauds RSG Over Pensioners’ Welfare

The Rivers State Chapter of the National Union of Local Government Pensioners, has commended the initiative of the new administration of the Service Commission to improve the condition of pensioners in the local Government system.
Chairman of the Union, Mr. Ikiroma Owiye Ibiba who made the commendation during their inaugural meeting in Port Harcourt also expressed their support for the reappointment of Chief Azubuike Nmerukini was Chairman of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission.
He said that the union appreciates the interest being shown by Chief Nmerukini in the welfare of pensioners at the local Government level, stressing that the development would serve as a morale booster to the thousands of pensioners at the local government level.
The Chairman particularly praised Chief Nmerukini for the establishment of desk officers during his first time as Chairman of the Commission, stressing that the initiative went a long way to alleviate the sufferings of pensioners.
“He also made sure that pensioners’ gratuity were paid within three months of retirement which is very laudable and also the first in history of pensioners in the local Government Service.
“We pray God Almighty to give him infinite mercies and wisdom to contribute his own quota to the advancement of the commission”.
The Chairman who also pledged union’s support to the Administration of Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for his numerous projects including the settlement of pension and salary arrears of civil servants in the state.
He used the occasion to call in all Rivers people to give their full and inflinching support to the administration.
