Senate ’ll Reconvene If Buhari Sends Ministerial List -Ekweremadu

The Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu yesterday in Enugu disclosed that the Senate will reconvene from its recess once it receives signal that President Muhammadu Buhari is ready with his ministerial list.
Ekweremadu who spoke when the Enugu Zonal Management of Nigerian Television Authority paid him a courtesy visit said the upper chamber of the National Assembly would also suspend its break once there is a matter requiring their urgent attention.
According to Ekweremadu, “though we are on recess, most of us are very much around doing other legislative duties. Therefore if the need arises, we will quickly reconvene to give Nigerians the service we were elected to offer; especially if the ministerial list is sent by the President”.
The lawmaker who represents Enugu West senatorial zone insisted that the Senate will at all times put the interest of Nigerians first.
On the issue of pay cut of members of the National Assembly, the Senator explained that they are prepared to make sacrifice in the interest of Nigerians and Nigeria.
He explained that what has happened was that the Senators did not consult there colleagues in the House of Representatives on the issue, stating that the National Assembly had already cut its budget from 150 to 120 billion and required inputs from other wings of the Assembly before a final decision will be taking on the issue.
