Rugby Federation Secures Sponsorship Deal
The Nigeria Rugby Foot
ball Federation (NRFF) has secured a deal with Samurai Sportswear, an international sportswear designing company, for the kitting of the country’s national rugby team, the Black Stallion Sevens.
A statement issued by the federation said the partnership, which will see Samurai as the official kit supplier of the NRFF, would last for one year and is subject to extension.
The deal is a boost for the Nigeria’s Black Stallions who are vying for the 2016 Olympic Games ticket.
The statement said the jerseys will be worn during the 2015 Africa 7s Championship scheduled to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, in November.
“This tournament also doubles as qualifiers for the Olympic Games in Rio d’ Janeiro, Brazil, next year,” it said.
The statement also said that the design of the wears is based on the Nigerian flag.
Rugby was recently excluded as part of the sports to feature at the forthcoming All-Africa Games (AAG) scheduled for Congo.
The statement quoted NRFF Vice President Olatunji Fasimoye, as saying that the partnership was a relief after the recent AAG disappointment.
Fasimoye said that the development was an indication that the recent milestones being recorded by the sport in Nigeria was being appreciated.
The statement said the Sevens would be wearing Samurai’s advanced Iconix shirts by Samurai to provide elite athletes with the ultimate sports garment.
“The Samurai fabric sculpts the body increasing circulation to improve muscle recovery.
“It’s high modulus extension works in harmony with the body to enhance dynamic movements with a muscle defining fit.
“The fabric has superb moisture management and breathability functions to keep the body cool and dry through channelling sweat away,’’ the statement said.
