A group, Ndigbo Unity
Forum (NUF), has urged the Federal Government to urgently block the frequency signals of Radio Biafra which currently pervade the air waves in the country.
The President of the forum, Mr Augustine Chukwudum, made the appeal while speaking with newsmen at Onitsha in Anambra State.
Chukwudum noted that the transmission of hate messages by one Nnamdi Kanu, who operates the radio, was unacceptable to peace loving Nigerians.
“The Federal Government should do all it can to block the signal of Radio Biafra once and for all.
“A situation where the radio is used to spread hate and falsehood among Nigerians, especially among the people of the South-East and South-South is highly regrettable.
“And if the negative and inciting utterances being made through the radio is not checked, it could lead to social disharmony and unrest in the country.”
He noted that the radio had already started brainwashing some youths in the two geopolitical zones with “loads of lies and inciting statements”.
“If nothing is done urgently we may have another radical group.”
Chukwudum said his group was totally in support of the recent denouncement and disowning of Nnamdi Kanu’s Radio Biafra by the South-East Governors’ Forum.
