NCSU Seeks Monarch’s Partnership To Drive Dev

The Rivers State Chairman
of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), Comrade O.T. Lilly-West, has stressed the need for mutual cooperation between the union and traditional rulers in the state, particularly in the union’s quest to promote the growth and development of the state.
Lilly-West, who made the call during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, in his office in Port Harcourt, said the union had played critical roles in the advancement and protection of the socio-economic and cultural interest of the society.
While extolling the outstanding leadership qualities of the monarch, the NCSU boss called on him to always support the state civil service.
Lilly-West expressed delight that the stae government under the leadership of Chief Nyesom Wike had so far kept faith with the workforce by liquidating pensions as well as payment of salaries regularly, stressing that the government’s transformation agenda would always enjoy the support of members of the union.
In his response, Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, thanked the union members for the visit, and urged civil servants to reciprocate government’s gesture by working hard, being committed and dedicated to their duties.
He noted that the civil service, as the engine room of government, always plays a pivotal role in driving and propelling the programmes and policies of the government, and enjoined the workforce to re-double its efforts in ensuring that the Wike’s administration succeeds in its avowed determination to reposition and transform the state.
King Jaja, also the Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, expressed delight that the governor hit the ground running the very day he was sworn-in by reopening courts in the state and making key appointments to ensure that the state judiciary effectively performs its constitutional functions.
