L-R: Programme Manager, Department for International Development (dfid) in Nigeria, Mr Peters Ugwuoke, Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State, Head of dfid office in Nigeria, Mr Ben Mellor and the South-West Regional Coordinator, dfid, Mr Sina Fagbenro-Byron, during Mellor’s visit to Governor Ambode in Lagos, recently.

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has said his administration will ensure it attends to the views and needs of the citizenry.
He made the pledge while speaking at the “Grace Glory Convention” organised by the Royal House of Grace International Church to mark its 23rd anniversary at Rumueme, yesterday, in Port Harcourt.
Wike declared that, “This administration will not fail Rivers people.”
The governor challenged the populace to always proffer solutions and ideas so that government will not derail, emphasizing that government will accommodate constructive criticism.
However, he enjoined the people to always pray for the security and peace in the state, pointing out that without security business and other economic activities will be grounded.
With prayers, he stated that his administration has been able to overcome the odds and dearth of funds, as it has been able to offset arrears owed civil servants and pensioners, including the numerous road construction jobs on-going in various parts of the state.
Wike used the church service to rededicate his administration to God, while  acknowledging how by divine providence he succeeded to become governor despite the campaign of calumny against him.
“It would not have been possible for me to be governor of Rivers State, if not for God. If it was money it would not have been possible,” he said.
Earlier in his sermon, popular evangelist, Rev. Uma Ukpai called on the governor not to relent in his good works.
He reminded the governor to always put hope in God who brought him to power while assuring him that, “if God is on your side all your enemies are wasting their time.”
Ukpai while declaring Wike as an asset of God, enjoined him to ensure that his administration work for the good and betterment of the common people.
