The Amayanabo of
Abalama in Asari-Toru Local Government Area, HRH Big Tom Tom, has called on the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to intervene by initiating the repair of the Degema-Emohua and Buguma Roads.
The monarch, who made the call while addressing newsmen at his palace recently, decried the poor state of Abalama Tolu Road.
According to him, hoodlums and kidnappers have capitalised on the bad state of the road to carry out their criminal activities.
He also appealed to the governor to extend his ongoing operation zero pot-hole to the area while also commending him for his bold initiative aimed at improving the lives of the people.
The traditional ruler said business activities are being crumbled while residents were packing out of the community due to the bad roads.
He further appealed to the government to fix the major bad areas to enable motorists and others access the community without stress.
He also noted that there is need for proper drainage to be constructed along the area to avoid flooding in the area.
The monarch also noted that during rainy season, the pot-holes were always covered with water and damages the vehicles.
On the recent amendment and signing into law of the traditional and chieftaincy institution act, the monarch commended the governor for the action describing it as a welcome development.
“It is a welcome amendment, that people yearned for, because monopoly of power is dangerous.
“Let us try and see that power is given to those who merit it”, he said.
