Giniwa who stated this when members of the association paid him a courtesy call at his palace, said development would not take place in any community in an atmosphere of rancour, adding that the peace of Ogoni land has always been his priority.
He warned the youths against being instrument of destruction, while assuring the group of his support in ensuring that the land is safe and secured.
Earlier in his speech, the National Coordinator of Ken Saro-Wiwa Association, Chief Gani Topha lamented the high rate of insecurity in the region.
He called for the setting up of a joint security taskforce in the Niger Delta to tackle security challenges. He noted that the region cannot be calling for an assessment of its environment without proper security.
He lauded the monarch for his role and contributions in maintaining peace in Ogoniland.
Topha, however, appealed to Ogoni leaders irrespective of their political affiliations to see that the insecurity in the area is checked.
“I am working with all the traditional rulers in the land to see that the issues of insecurity are addressed. In Ogoni we respect our traditional rulers and that is why am here to seek the support of the king towards curbing insecurity in the land, he said.”
