Immigration Decorates 24 Officers In Enugu
No fewer than 24 offic
ers of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Enugu State Command have been decorated with new ranks following their promotion.
Decorating them at the at the Federal Secretariat complex, Enugu, the State Controller of Immigration, Mr Ismail Bashir, described the exercise as a watershed in the life of the officers and the command.
Bashir urged them to put in their best in the service of their fatherland, stressing that promotion came with added vigour to excel in one’s career.
“This promotion should be a catalyst for you to work harder and move the NIS forward in your little way,” he said.
He said that officers in the command had shown themselves to be reliable and committed to duty which was why they had recorded remarkable successes over the past few years.
Bashir charged the NIS rank and file to see the exercise as an encouragement and that they stood the chance of attaining the pinnacle of their career.
In his goodwill message, the Nigeria Customs Area Controller in charge of Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi States, Mr Kashim Ajiya, said the two sister agencies had enjoyed remarkable cooperation in the state.
Ajiya attributed the successes recorded by the Nigeria Customs at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in intercepting contraband goods to the combined efforts of the two agencies.
He appealed to the officers to see their promotion and the decoration as an event that would spur them to greater heights.
Ajiya said the Nigeria Customs in the state would continue to give their maximum support to the NIS.
The decoration was performed by Bashir Ajiya with the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Lar Stephen.
Three officers were promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Immigration, one to Superintendent of Immigration, while six were promoted to Deputy Superintendent of Immigration.
Eight others were promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Immigration I, two Assistant Superintendent of Immigration II, three to Assistant Chief Inspector of Immigration and one Senior Inspector of Immigration.
