IGSDA Hosts Victorious Team, Today
The Independent
Grassroots Sports Development Assocation, IGSDA, will today in Port Harcourt host its Under-19 football team, called Rivers United, who won the international football event of the United Nations Day of friendship Competition in Ghana last week.
According to organizers of the reception, the squad and officials would be received by the IGSDA founder and national President, Prince Miebi Ogunu, officers of the association and other grassroots sports stakeholders.
Speaking in an interview with Tidesports, the national President, Prince Ogunu, who had promised that the team would return with the winner’s medal when they were leaving for the competition last week said that the players had brought honour and glory to Rivers State and Nigeria by winning the competition in Ghana.
According to him, “The least we can do for the players is to organise an official reception for them and appreciate their achievement, while hoping that the state would recognise their efforts”.
He said that the Rivers State Technical Committee Cordinators and members of Board of trustees of the association, including patrons, other stakeholders, Rivers State FA members, Sports Council and the Permanent Secretary of the States Ministry of Sports among others would be part of the reception.
