The Chairman of Christian
Council of Nigeria (CNN), Rivers State chapter, Rev. Benjamin Green Avor, has commended Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of the state for his commitment and partnership with Christian leaders to promote unity and peaceful environment in the state.
Rev. Green Avor, who is also the president of Baptist Conference made the commendation shortly after he was elected the state chairman of CNN at a special delegates conference in Port Harcourt, over the weekend.
The Rivers CNN chairman, however, charged the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state to key into the opportunity provided by the State government through its policies to partner with churches towards bringing the desired peace in the state.
He expressed happiness with the present administration in the state in its determination to bring dividends of democracy to the people.
He enjoined Christians in the State to remain prayerful and intercede for the peace of the nation especially against the backdrop of spate of insecurity across the country, noting that when Christians speak with one voice, solution would be possible.
Rev Green Avor was critical about incessant bomb blasts by Boko Haram members in parts of the North and urged every Nigerian to close ranks together tackling security challenges.
He promised that the new leadership of CNN in the state would work to meet the expectations of the founding fathers of the organisation and assured to prioritise the establishment of association’s secretariat.
