FERMA Rehabilates Federal Roads In Anambra
The Federal Road Main
tenance Agency (FERMA), has commenced the rehabilitation of federal roads in Anambra State, Mr George-Francis Usoroh, an official of the agency, has said.
Usoroh, FERMA’s Maintenance Engineer in the State made the statement in Awka while addressing newsmen.
He said the rehabilitation was sequel to a directive from the Federal Government for federal roads across the country to be in good condition before the yuletide.
He said the rehabilitation in Anambra had commenced on Ekwluobia and Nnewi roads.
He said the agency would clear all the drainages on the roads to be rehabilitated.
Usoroh said the agency would embark on assessment tour of all federal roads in the state to access their conditions.
“The Federal Government is determined to improve on the current status of its roads throughout the country,’’ he said.
In his reaction to the development, Mr John Ohaeri, a commercial driver in Awka in an interview, accused the Federal Government of being insensitive to the plight of road users in the South-East.
He said that the poor condition of federal roads in Anambra had claimed many lives, and commended the efforts by the current administration to rehabilitate the roads.
