Election Tribunal : Group Wants Peteside To Withdraw Suit

Governorship Candidates (CORGCA) in the April 11 2015 Governorship election says it is mounting pressure on the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Adol Dakuku Peterside and other aggrieved Governorship candidates in the election, to withdraw their suits from the Election Petition Tribunal.
This was contained in a communiqué made available to newsmen at the end of their meeting in Port Harcourt.
The communiqué signed by Deacon Akuro Parker of the United Peoples Party (UPP), Godwin .C. David of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Mrs Anastasia Tepiko of National Conscience Party (NCP), Barrister K. Elenwo of KOWA Party, Prince Ichenwo of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Boma Edmund Jacks of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Royal Enyida of CPP and Wodi Livingstone of APA, also condemned the invitation and arrest of the Rivers State Resident Electoral Commissioner Mrs Gesila Khan by the Department of State Security Service (DSS).
The coalition said that the decision to ask Dr Peterside and others to withdraw their suits was for the interest of the state.
It said, considering the interest of Rivers State above all, we are praying for the reconciliation of all aggrieved governorship candidates and parties to join in building the new Rivers State.
“Consequently, we condemn in very strong terms the arrest, intimidation and harassment of the Electoral Commissioner, Dame Gesila Khan and other officers of the commission by the DSS.”
The coalition commended the state governor, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for his commitment towards the development of the state.
“Having critically observed with keen interest the unfolding events since his assumption of office, we hereby resolved with implicit confidence to commend His Excellency for the following outstanding bold steps.
“Commitment to the completion of all meaningful projects of previous administration including Odili/Akpajo link road, Igbo Etche/Iriebe Housing Estates, initiation of zero pothole project that is greatly relieving motorists of the stress on bad road it said.
The coalition assured the governor and the people of its resolved to contribute to the rapid socio-economic development of the state.
