Chamber Lauds Obiano Over Agro-Allied Investments
The Onitsha Chamber of
Commerce, has lauded the Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano for attracting multi-billion naira agriculture and agro-allied investments in the state within a year.
The President of the chamber, Mr Uchenna Apakama, gave the commendation in an interview with newsmen in Onitsha, Anambra State.
“The chamber praises the efforts of Obiano’s administration in attracting mechanised farmers, agricultural industrialists and other investors to the state.
“We urge the state government to give greater attention to the promotion of agriculture and agro-allied micro, small and medium enterprises by soft credit loans and other incentives.
“Especially, as the agriculture sector holds the propensity to create employment and improve Anambra State economy generally,” he said.
Apakama said the chamber would continue to collaborate with institutions of higher learning, including partnering with the state government in various spheres of economic development.
“Equally, the chamber wants Anambra government to leverage on the structure of the chambers of commerce in the state, comprising Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka, in drafting its policies and legislation.
“As well as the chambers inclusion in government trade and bilateral delegations that effect business in the state,” Apakama said.
