Acting CJ Restates Commitment To Corruption Crusade
The Acting Chief
Judge of Rivers State, Justice Daisy W. Okocha has reiterated that her administration’s zero tolerance for corruption in the state judiciary.
The acting Chief Judge stated this during an address at a two-day workshop organised for judiciary officers and court staff of the state judiciary in Port Harcourt recently.
Justice Daisy Okocha stated that the need to put into practice the talks on ethics and anti-corruption could not be over emphasized and added that there were other training opportunities and programmes to assist them perform their duties effectively.
She disclosed that workshops’ topics were in accordance with the 2015 theme of the National Judicial Institute (NJI)” Promoting Judicial Ethics in Nigeria and added that judges and magistrates would receive refresher training on four areas of Judgment writing and performance evaluation, judicial ethics, alternative dispute Resolution and case management.
She further told the audience that the court secretaries, court registrars process clerk, and bailiffs, simultaneously would be trained on “Ethics and Anti-corruption” and added that the workshop was put in place to make Judiciary staffs in the state up to date and efficiently discharge their duties in view of the current realities.
The state acting Chief Judge averred that the workshops were inconsonance with the provisions of the NJC’s public Notice I of September 30, 2013 “The National Judicial policy” which seeks to maintain” a high standard of adjudication and administration in dispensation of Justice in Nigeria noting that the afore said notice makes copious provisions bordering on Judicial ethics speedy administration and dispensation of justice, and the development of the capacities of Judicial officers and court staff.
