AAG Para-Athlete Targets Good Performance In Congo
A 2011 All Africa
Games (AAG), silver medalist in the 200m T46, Bashiru Yunusa, has promised that he would not disappoint the country at the forthcoming continental championship.
Yunusa, a Para-athlete who specialises in the 200m and 400m sprints, told newsmen in Lagos that he would use his experience to win medals at the 11th edition.
“I went to Maputo and I won medals for the country, I will use the experience gained and training into bear to ensure I repeat the same feat at this year’s event.
“I may even do better depending on luck but I will definitely win not less than two medals with God on my side,” he said.
The AAG is scheduled for September 4 to September 19 in Congo Brazzaville and Para-athletics is among the 19 sports that Nigeria;s contingents will be jostling for medals.
He also appealed to corporate organisations to assist the Para-athletics Federation of Nigeria (PFN) in carrying out its activities.
“I am using this opportunity to solicit for sponsorship not for myself but for the federation because we need finance. Government alone cannot do it,” he said
