As the tenure of Prof
Barineme B. Fakae, as Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology draws to an end, a media practitioner in Rivers State, Elder Josiah Mbu Akanza, has appealed to the Visitor of the university and Governor of the State, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, to appoint a renowned university academic with  an excellent pedigree to replace him.
Elder Akanza, a veteran broadcaster and pioneer President of the National Association of Ogoni Media Workers (NAOMEW), made the appeal during a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, recently.
Akanza stated that the institutional mandate of the premier university of science and technology in the country to produce the needed manpower for the development of the state and society in general, requires the imput of a shrewd university scholar and administrator as Vice  Chancellor.
He said the state University of Science and Technology recorded tremendous achievements, especially in the area of Information Technology, (ICT) and curriculum development and sound administration during the tenure of Prof Fakae.
According to the veteran broadcaster, similar level of commitment is required to sustain the standard raised by the Fakae administration, which earned the institution national and international recognition. He commended the outgoing vice chancellor for his effort in bringing RSUST out of the woods and wished him well in his subsequent endeavours.
