Valuer Tasks RSG On Title Registration Process
Worried by the much
difficulties faced in the process of title deed registration and issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), an estate surveyor and valuer, Vincent Elendu, has urged the new administration in Rivers State to make the process much more easier.
Elendu made this known to The Tide last Monday said that the process when simplified, would fast-track development in the housing sector, particularly in home ownership, as it will be affordable and faster to obtain.
He said that the commissioner for land can be empowered in the state to sign deed of mortgage and deed of assignment, instead of going through the ministry of Justice.
According to him, this will remove some administrative bottle necks, and make the process faster.
The real estate professional also urged government to provide funds for social housing in the state, as well as encourage people to contribute to the pool for social housing if it wants fast housing development in the state.
He said that government can also sell such houses at low rates to Civil Servant and other low-income earners on a good mortgage arrangement, and the terms of repayment adequately spelt out.
On the activities and duties of estate surveyors and valuers, Elendu said that their job as land managers is more visible anywhere, but regretted that the profession have been infiltrated by so many quacks in the name of agents.
