Unemployment: Building Artisans Urge Youth To Exploit Sector
The Association of Building Artisans of Nigeria (ASBAN) has advised unemployed Nigerian youth to explore the potential in the building and construction industry for economic survival.
The president of the association Ade Oshinibu in a press statement made available to The Tide on Friday, said the industry has opportunities that requirelittle or no formal education for an individual to be engaged in.
He said in the statement that an unemployed youth could engage himself or herself in the management of a small property or be in charge of rent collection as well as letting out of property.
Oshinibu, who is also an industrialist reiterated that an interested person could succeed with just little training, dedication, commitment and hardwork, adding that the youth could also engage in maintenance of physical and social aesthetics of buildings.
“Although property management requires some elements of training and education, but it can easily be exploited with secondary education.
“There is a lot of other on-site construction work that our youths can pick-up and be making money on daily basis,” he said.
The ASBAN president also said that the construction sector in developing countries like Nigeria was the highest provider of job opportunities.
“One good thing about construction and building work is that a single building project can provide job opportunities for a large number of people at a time.
“This is because when a particular project is going on, even the food and water seller will be engaged since they can use the opportunity to sell their product,” Oshinibu said.
