Two Charged For Car Theft In Ondo

Ismaila and Kayode Ajana, — on Thursday appeared before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a Toyota Camry car valued at N1 million.
The duo of Ismaila, 36, and Ajana, 25, whose addresses are unknown, are facing charges of theft and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, ASP Isa Atanegbe, said the accused committed the offences on July 3 at about 11.30 p.m. at Owode near Oba-Ile, Akure.
Atanegbe said the car with registration no. BE 408 AK and valued at N1 million belonged to the complainant, Mr Fidelis Okaluwe.
He noted that the offences were a violation of Sections 383 and Section 390 (10a) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The prosecutor, however, asked for an adjournment to enable him to study the case.
Mr Gabriel Omoedu, Counsel to the accused did not oppose the application for an adjournment.
He urged the court to grant the accused bail on liberal terms, saying the offence is a bailable one.
In her ruling, Magistrate Victoria Bob-Manuel, granted the two accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties each.
She also said the sureties should provide evidence of tax payment to the government as part of the bail condition.
