Kobani said that the payment of pension arrears and gratuities owed pensioners by the previous administration was part of the move to address some of the injustices, adding that by the time, the government addresses all the injustices, the commission would have lesser complaints to address.
He also said that the government was open to work with all commissions and agencies with a view to addressing all sociatal problems.
The Secretary to the State Government, described the visit as unique, especially as it coincides with the 40th anniversary of the commission, assuring that their request for vehicles and land for the building of the Commission’s permanent secretariat in Port Harcourt would be discussed with the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
Earlier, the Federal Commissioner incharge of the Commission in Rivers State, Dr. Alpheaus Paul-Worika, had said that the visit was to intimate the government of the preparedness of the commission to investigate all complaints against injustice with the view to addressing them.
Paul-Worika stressed the need for support from the government to address issues such as, wrongful termination of appointments as well as sensitise civil servants on the need to appreciate the importance of the commission in addressing their problems.
He also solicited the support of the government in the building of the commission’s permanent secretariat, donation of Hiace and Hilux buses for mobility as well as assist in the organisation of a seminar for civil servants in the state.
Paul-Worika used the occasion to congratulate Kobani over his appointment as Secretary to the state government, and expressed optimism that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of his official duties.
