Rivers Ready To Host U-23 Olympic Qualifier

Rivers state is ready to
host the Olympic qualifying match between Nigeria’s U-23 team and their Congolese counterpart scheduled for this Sunday, at the impressive Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium, Port Harcourt.
Already football loving fans within and outside the state have expressed their readiness to storm the stadium and give maximum support the the U-23 team, also known as Dream Team VI.
Several soccer lovers who spoke in the state capital, Port Harcourt, commended Governor Nyesom Wike for giving Rivers people the opportunity to once again watch international football in the Garden City.
According to them, it is an opportunity they would not like to miss, especially as the Dream Team VI was playing for the first time in the state.
Ndubuisi Worluh, who has been following the national teams for some time says he is more than happy to witness live international football in Port Harcourt.
He recalled when the state capital hosted some matches during the Nigeria 1999 FIFA U-21 World Cup and the Super Eagles of Nigeria enroute Japan/Korea 2002 World Cup.
Another sports enthusiast, Kingsley Bariere said he was waiting for the day to come as he would be watching live international football for the first time in Port Harcourt.
He called on the Dream Team VI to give Rivers people and Nigerians at large something to cheer about, saying  that support for them would not be lacking during the match.
A businessman, Tam Ibigoni said he would be going to the stadium with his family to cheer the U-23 team to victory. He lauded the governor for bringing such an important fixture to Rivers state.
To ensure a large turnout of fans, the Rivers state government has provided buses at strategic locations in the state capital to convey fans to and from the stadium.
