Police Rescue Kidnapped Lawyer, Arrests Suspects

Command said it had rescued one Barr E.O. Daniel who was kidnapped on July 21st,2015 at about 0830hrs along Ejama-Ebubu/Trailer Motor Park, in Eleme Local Government of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Ezike Chris disclosed this during a press briefing held at the Police Command headquarters in Port Harcourt, Monday to showcase the achievements of the command since the declaration of emergency in crime fighting in the state.
CP Ezike stated that on July 23, 2015 at about 2015 hrs, One Monday Asuquo ‘M’ was arrested at Eleme while trying to collect ransom from the relations of the lawyer adding that through the arrest, the police was able to rescue the kidnapped lawyer and arrested two other members of the gang, including a suspected juju man.
He further disclosed that during the interrogation, the kidnappers revealed that they were contracted to execute the job for N1m and 20% mobilization fees had been paid to them adding that one locally made revolver with 6 rounds of ammunition was recovered.
In a related development the state commissioner of police said on July 5th, 2015, one Friday Ozogo was kidnapped around Elekahia by a gang of three armed men who killed and buried him in a shallow grave around Choba waterfront.
He stated that despite their callous actions, the kidnappers he said, continued to harass the victims family for ransom and collected over N500,000.00 from the family.
According to him, they pestered the family until the police through diligent investigation tracked them down and arrested Kelvin Ogbulaan, 22, Chinwendu Akani, 20 and Nelson Kacaranmoh 23, adding that all the suspects arrested have confessed committing the crime and also took the police to the location where they buried their victim.
The commissioner of Police further told the journalists that the corpse of the victim had been exhumed and taken to the mortuary for autopsy adding that earlier positive identification has been confirmed by the family, while the police recovered two locally made pistols using 7.62mm ammunition.
