Police Nab Soldier, Two Others For Robbery In Rivers

lice Command has arrested a private soldier and two accomplices for armed robbery offences.
The private soldier, Elijah Owoh before he was arrested by police during a robbery operation in Port Harcourt was attached to 231 Battalion Bio in Borno State with service number 12NA/68/7580-93.
The State Commissioner of Polce, CP Chris O. Ezike disclosed this during a press briefing held at the Command headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, Monday.
CP Ezike disclosed that the private soldier was arrested for involvement in armed robbery with a gang adding that the military authorities have been contacted to confirm the claims made by the suspect while investigation continues.
According to him, during the investigation, it was revealed that he had taken part in a robbery incident in which a male victim was killed around Eneka Farm Road, Port Harcourt.
“He admitted being a private solider with service number 12NA/68/7580-93 of 231 Battalion Biu, on AWOL and that he hid his AK47 rifle with its 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition in three magazines somewhere in a forest around Eneka” he stated.
The state commissioner of police however, stated that the police mobilized and recovered the fire arm along with a gold coloured Mercedes Benz car, model 190 with a fake Reg. number, Lagos Ms 301KJA.
CP Ezike used the opportunity to recall his earlier promise to the people of the state on the assumption into office that the onslaught against crime and criminals remain unending adding that the criminals have the opportunity to relocate their operational base or be ready to face the law as the police was ever ready to smoke them out of their hiding places.
