Oliseh Moves To Convince Liverpool Striker, Jordan Ibe
New Nigeria coach Sun
day Oliseh has already swung into action to draft quality players to the Super Eagles by setting up a meeting with Liverpool striker, Jordan Ibe, AfricanFootball.com, reveals.
Ibe’s father is Nigerian even though he has represented England at various age-group levels and Oliseh now wants to convince him his future lies with the Eagles and not England.
Earlier this year, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) hinted they were making efforts to get Ibe to commit to Nigeria.
And last week, Oliseh said during his media presentation in Abuja Nigeria no longer have top-class performers who could on their own win matches for the country, like was the case in his playing days.
Oliseh has had to wait for Ibe to return to England with Liverpool from their training tour of Asia before he could meet with the versatile forward.
“Oliseh, who has returned to Europe, will meet with Jordan Ibe to convince him he has a brighter future with Nigeria than England,” an official disclosed.
The 19-year-old Ibe can play on either wings, as a striker or a playmaker.
Last season, he made his debut for the Liverpool first team after he played on loan at Derby County on loan the previous season.
Samson Siasia also convinced Victor Moses and Shola Ameobi to change their international allegiance with Victor Moses going on to inspire the Eagles to a third AFCON crown in South Africa in 2013.
