JPSNC Urges RSG To Prioritise Workers’ Salary Payment

Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC) has urged the state government to priorities workers’ salary payment in view of the dwindling federal allocation.
Speaking to The Tide in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, the JPSNC Chairman, Comrade Emecheta Chukwu, said prioritizing the workers’ monthly salary payment would restore the confidence of the Workers’ on the ability of the state government to deliver on its promises to the civil servants. Chukwu said the civil servants in the state are passing through most difficult times in their lives presently as salaries had not been paid for the past three months April-June, stressing that some civil servants had already withdrawn their children from private schools in the state because they could not afford the payment of school fees of their children and wards.
He applauded the state government over the recent announcement by the Commissioner for Finance, Dr Fred Kpakol, that workers salaries for April and November would soon be paid to workers.
He reiterated the zeal and determination of the workers to support the present administration achieve its goals and visions of restoration of the state to its past glory.
The labour leader also lauded the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for the steps so far taken to rehabilitate deplorable roads in the state, describing such gesture as a step in the right direction for the development of the state.
He appealed to the workers to remain calm as the union is meaningfully engaging the state government to also prioritise their welfare and other fringe benefits due to them.
Chukwu enjoined the state government to fully utilise the loans obtained from the financial institutions for infrastructural development and completion of some major abandoned projects in the state.
He said the state government has shown that accountability, transparency and due process would be exhibited by the administration in all facets of its policies judging from the administration’s steps and decisions so far taken.
He pledged the loyalty of the workers to the government.
