According to him, his farms which are located in marshy farmlands witnessed losses in 2012.
He explained that he has taken measures by building platforms around the fish pond to forestall future losses.
Explaining further, the fish farmer called on the state government and other relevant agencies to assist fish farmers in the state through the provision of soft loans even as he called for enlightenment at the rural level on how to tackle the incidence of losses of fish by local farmers.
According to him, fish farming was capital intensive due to the high cost of procuring feed and other necessities.
It could be recalled that the Director General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), Dr. Moses Beckley, raised an alarm recently over the possible flooding this year in 12 states of the federation.
He listed the states to include, Rivers, Niger, Delta, Bayelsa, Anambra, Taraba, Nassarawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kogi and Benue.
