The speaker of the Delta
State House of Assembly Rt Hon Monday Okemeni Iybuya has cautioned political leaders against using any of the three arms of Government to destabilize the country.
Rt Hon Igbuyu gave the warning in an interview with newsmen shortly after the Delta State House of Assembly’s retreat in Port Harcourt.
He urged lawmakers in the various Houses of Assembly across the country to put the interest of their states above personal interest, promising that the State House of Assembly would enact laws that will affect the people positively.
“The fundamental thing is to serve the people of  Delta State and protect their interest. Delta people expect their lawmakers to go down to business for effective legislations that will impact positively on their lives.
“Lawmaking is a serious business and must be taken seriously” he said.
While describing legislation as a serious business, the speaker said that, the lawmakers who were duly elected by their people were expected to serve the interest of their various constituencies in particular and the state in general.
Igbuya also enjoined his colleagues in the House to see themselves as servants of the people who should reflect in the quality of legislations that will have direct bearing on the people of the state.
He commended the lawmakers for their decision to host the retreat in Port Harcourt, stressing that the situation was what members needed to equip themselves for the challenges ahead.
The speaker also expressed optimism that, Delta State would witness massive developments under the administration of Governor Ifeany Okowa at the helm of affairs.
