Court Remands Bizman Over Burglary
A 37-year-old business
man, Chibuzo Amobi, was last Tuesday remanded in prison custody by an FCT Area Court, Lugbe, for alleged house- breaking and theft.
Amobi, a resident of Mararaba in Nasarawa State, is standing trial on a two-count charge of house-breaking and theft.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Anigbo Paul, told the court that the matter was reported at Lugbe Police Station by one Ifoen Esther of Karamagiji village, Airport Road, Abuja, on June 17.
Paul said that the complainant house was broken into by unknown person, who made away with her laptop, television, decoder and other items.
He said that on the same date the accused was caught with the stolen items and during police investigation, he could not give satisfactory accounts of himself.
He added that the offences contravened the provisions of section 287 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The accused denied committing the offence.
Senior Judge Gambo Garba, ordered the remand of the accused in Kuje Prison, and adjourned the case till July13, for hearing.
