Buhari Sacks Boards Of Parastatals, NIMASA DG

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday announced the dissolution of the boards of all Federal Government parastatals agencies, and institutions.
He also announced the termination of the appointment of Mr. Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi as Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
In a statement, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, advised all those affected by the dissolution to hand over the properties and documents of the organisations they served to the managements or any one authorized to oversee the running of the affairs of the such government bodies until further notice.
The statement thanked them for the service for the nation, and wished them well in their future endeaviours.
Though government was silent in a statement, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, stated that the action takes immediate effect.
The three paragraph statement however urged the former director-general to hand over the management of NIMASA and all government property in his possession to the most senior officer in the agency who will remain in charge until a new man is appointed.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, appointed Tolu Ogunlesi, a journalist and blogger, as his special assistant on New Media.
A statement from the Presidency said that Ogunlesi will be Buhari administration’s social media anchor, a role played by Reno Omokiri for former President Goodluck Jonathan.
