About Nigerian Entertainment Awards

The Nigerian Entertain
ment Awards (NEA) was established in New York City in January 2006 to serve the growing African population in North America.
It is an annual event focused on recognizing the contributions of African Entertainers to the entertainment industry. The event aims at promoting the image and culture of Nigeria. This has increased the awareness of a new edgy style of African entertainment that has helped promote Nigerian acts to the world.
The first edition was held at the clarice Smith performing centre at the university of Maryland, College park on July 28, 2006 .
The event featured performances by Sauce Kid, Sammy Okposo and Mike Okri. Tuface Idibia and Banky  10 were among the winners of the first edition hosted by Micheal Blackson.
The second edition was held at the NYU Skirball centre for the performing Arts in New York City in June 2007 and was hosted by comedian Julius Agwu.
The 2007 edition featured performances by Banky W, Icebery slim, Blak Jesus and Mike Aremu.

The 2010 edition was held on September 18th 2011 at the BMC Tribcca performing acts centre in New York and was hosted by singer Oma Wumi. The event featured performances by Lara George, Jesse Jaz Omawumi, M.I. and Tuface Idibia all also received Awards in the ceremony.
The 7th edition was held on September 2nd 2012 and was hosted by Nollywood screen dira, Funke Akindele (aka) Jenifer”. The event featured performance by Bcymo, Seyi Shay, Ice Prince, Victor, Waje Skales Banky W, Wizkid and appearances by Don Jazzy, Davido, Vivian Ndoar, D Prince, Sarkordie Gbenga Akinnagbe Uche  Jumbo, Susan Peters and Juliet Ibrahim amongst others.
Among the winners of this pretigeous awards are: TUFace Idibia, D’ban) Tosin Martin, Lagbaja, P-Square weired MC, Femi Kuti, Eldee BankyW, Lagbaja, Sammy Okposo and femi Kuti.
Others are: Julius Agwu, Obademi Williams, Ramsey Nouah, Stella Damasus-Aboderin, tade Ogidain Asa, Olu maintain, Ty bello gice, DJ Humility Basorge Taria, Olu Jacobs, Kate Henshad, J. Martins, M.I. Darey, IC, Die Comedian.
We also have winners such as DJ Neptune, Jim Iyke, Funke Akindele, amongst numerous others.
