30 Days After: We Are On Track -Wike
Clocking one month on Monday, Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike said his administration is on track.
He made the assertion during an unscheduled visit to the Eagle Island/Illoabuchi link Road in Port Harcourt yesterday.
The governor had earlier visited the New Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Greater Port Harcourt and the ongoing road rehabilitation project at the Ojoto/Azikiwe Junction being handled by Chinese construction firm, CCECC in Diobu axis.
He observed that with the road rehabilitation exercise on course, the administration will do all it could to keep to its pledge during inauguration on May 29th that the city would wear a new look.
“We came here to see whether the contractor is on site and we are happy with what we are seeing now we have also been to Ojoto and we saw that CCECC is working. We believe that they will keep to the date that at least in three months’ time they would have given the people of the state the hope of a new Rivers State.”
Wike emphasized that the government will keep to its promise it made to the people of the state on assuming power.
On the inspection of facilities at the new stadium at Greater Port Harcourt, Wike stated that he wanted to ascertain the state of facilities in the stadium ahead the Olympic qualifying matches to be hosted in the state.
He said, “Rivers State is a sports city and I believe we will be able to host the Super Falcons and the Dream Team IV”.
With the state of things, he promised that the state will before the 18th of July put things in order to host the matches, as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical team has visited to see the level of preparedness.
He said the state is excited to host such games since it has been long it did so, and is ready to showcase its potentials as a sports loving destination in the country.
