All is set for the kick-
off of the 2015 Governor Seriake Dickson football competition tagged Restoration cup as over 140 teams from the three senatorial districts in the state have registered for the competition.
The Director General of the competition, Mr Cyril Akika, in a chat with the newsmen in Yenagoa, expressed  satisfaction with the level of awareness and expectations on the tournament by Bayelsans.
He said the teams that registered for the tournament, had surpassed the 113  originally planned for.
According to him, “I was pleasantly surprised when i was told that one hundred and forty teams have registered before the closing date for registration, It goes to show that Bayelsa youths are deeply in love with sports, particularly football, we must ensure we engage them in tournaments like this, so they can start a career in it”.
Mr  Akika, urged all the registered teams to be patient, as the process of screening of the teams/players  by the Central Organising Committee, alongside representatives from the Bayelsa State Football Association are ongoing  and would have been concluded if not for the huge number of registered clubs.
In his words, “All i can say now is that Bayelsans should be patient with us, especially the youths and all the participating players”.
“We initially planned for one hundred and thirteen teams, now we have one hundred and forty teams. We have to ensure all the registered teams participate, so we are taking our time to screen the teams, and ensure there is no registration of ineligible players, or a player registering in more that ward”.
“It’s taking time, we know, but we have done it, so that it does not affect us in the course of the tournament.”
Akika also added that jerseys and training bibs for the teams are already available, and would be distributed to the teams soonest, before the commence of the tournament.
