Wike To Build Quality All Season Roads In Rivers

The Executive Governor
of Rivers State, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, has assured the people of Rivers State that his government would build first class all season roads network in the state.
Wike made this known in his inaugural address delivered soon after his swearing-in as Governor of Rivers State at the Liberation Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt on Friday.
According to him, he would ensure that infrastructures were built, including first-class all season roads, bridges, canals, Jetties and other mass transit infrastructure that the state needed to drive socio-economic development.
He opined that with available funds, his administration would proprotose the completion of all ongoing road projects in the state, including the construction of the trans-Kalabari Coastal road network, dualise the Ahoada-Omoku Road, Sakpenwa-Bori Road and Oyigbo-Afam Road, among others.
The executive governor further stated that government would also tackle the challenges of urban renewal, road congestion and traffic gridlock in Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor and other major population centres in Rivers State.
His Excellency hinted that he would work together with the federal government to ensure the completion of the Bodo-Bonny Unity Road and other federal roads, as well as ensure the optimal utilization of the seaports in Port Harcourt and Onne for greater commercial and economic progress.
Meanwhile, as part of his electioneering promises, the Governor, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike, has flagged –off the operation zero potholes in Rivers State.
Performing the ceremony at the Churchill, Borikiri axist, UTC junction and Azikiwe by Ojoto Junction in Diobu, Port Harcourt on Friday soon after their swearing-in, he said the exercise was in fulfillment of his electioneering promises to the people of the state and enjoined the people to co-operate with the contractors, Julius Berger Nig Ltd, to ensure zero potholes and put the roads in proper shape.
