…Warns Against Fake Driver’s Licence
The Sector Com
mander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Rivers State Sector Command, Sunday Oghenekaro has reiterated his earlier warning that any driver who obtains or take drivers licence through the back door would be treated as a common criminal and such a person would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
Oghenekaro made this known during an enlightenment forum held in Port Harcourt.
The sector commander said the corps would not spare any driver or the syndicate who take pleasure in such illegal deal as such persons would be handed over to the law enforcement agents to face the full wrath of the law.
He said the warning became necessary following reports from many quarters about some racketeers who had duped them of their hard earned money by obtaining a fake drivers licence for them.
According to him, the command had arrested some offenders and would not relent in ensuring that all those involved in this business are brought to book to serve as deterrent to others.
Oghenekaro further explained that to obtain the new drivers licence, applicants are to show their driving school certificate from an approved school by the FRSC, obtain learners permit from the Board of Internal Revenue or Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) of the state after showing a medical fitness certificate from approved government hospital, before obtaining a VIO test certificate from the authorities.
He said thereafter, the applicant will obtain an application form from the FRSC, fill it and pay N6,350 only into the designated banks, before going for a physical capture, where the applicant will be issued a temporary divers licence immediately.
The FRSC boss opined that the permanent drivers licence of any driver, after going through these process would be ready in 60 days, and warned that there is no proxy in issuance of drivers licence.
