Rivers NUJ Elections Hold Today
Election of officers into the executive committee of the Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) will hold today in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
A statement signed by Chairman and Secretary, Credentials and Caretaker Committee, Dr. Alpheaus Paul-Worika and Mike Mbonye, respectively, said that the elections will hold at the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Secretariat, Moscow Road, near the Rivers State Secretariat Complex, Port Harcourt.
It indicated that accreditation of voters will begin at 9.00 am while voting will commence at 11am and end at 1pm, advising eligible voters to take special note of the time and be punctual in order to participate in the exercise.
The statement further stated that the national secretariat of the union has directed that the exercise should be conducted in strict compliance with its guidelines, and cautioned members against conducts that could threaten security and public peace.
It would be recalled that the election, initially billed to hold on May 21, 2015, was rescheduled by the national secretariat of the NUJ to resolve outstanding issues in line with the union’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
The statement warned miscreants and those not eligible to vote to stay away to avoid the long arm of the law.
